Domestic farmers increased investments in farm machinery up to 197 million USD
Despite the heat wave in 2012 and ongoing efforts to increase the fiscal burden on farmers, agricultural producers do not cut investments in fixed assets, particularly in modern agricultural machinery. This is evidenced by the volume of foreign trade in agricultural equipment. Figures, published by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, show that in Q1 of 2013 imports and exports of tillage, seeding, harvesting equipment and machinery made up about 197 million USD, which is 5% more than in 2012.

Exports of grain crops in MY 2013/14 may break five-year record, providing predictable government policy
According to preliminary estimates, grain exports from Ukraine in MY 2013/14 will amount to 25 million tons. This figure is to exceed the largest sale volumes of grains from Ukraine to foreign markets of MY 2008/09, which amounted to 24.8 million tons, - states the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB). Thus, experts emphasize that increasing production trends in crop production and animal husbandry may be preserved solely due to government support, the only efficient mechanism of which are tax incentives for agriculture.

Agriculture to stop in case of tax exemptions cancellation
In case of possible repeal of special tax conditions for farmers, the number of loss-making enterprises in the agrarian sector will double and their share will increase from 17-30% to 50-60% of the total number. This was stated by the leaders of eleven agribusiness associations in a letter addressed to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to take into account their views on the preferential tax regimes for farmers to prevent the decline in Ukrainian agriculture.

Farmers to suffer 19 billion UAH losses due to cancelled tax exemptions
Abolition of preferential tax conditions for the agricultural sector threatens agricultural decline and deterioration of the social situation in the countryside. This was stated by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club", Agrarian Union of Ukraine and the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine. The associations sent a relevant letter addressed to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak.

Rye exports in February 2013 amounted to 740% compared to the same indicator in 2012. This was reported by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club". Despite low profitability of rye production in Ukraine, the country is among top-4 world’s producers after the aggregate index of the EU-27, Russia and Belarus.

Economically justified regulatory monetary value of land not exceeds 15 thousand UAH/ha – UCAB
Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB) calculated economically justified monetary value of agricultural land. The calculations demonstrate that this figure cannot exceed 15 thousand UAH/ha. UCAB says that these relevant calculations were sent to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the State Agency for Land Resources of Ukraine.

Swine rearing profitability of households approaches zero
The growth in pork imports in 2012 up to 204 thousand t resulted in a decrease in pig population in households and the growth in industrial pork production. The high cost of swine rearing in households cannot compete with either companies that produce pork or with imports of this type of meat.

Minimal milk prices set to decrease cow population by 5%
Another legislative initiative of the Parliament to set minimum purchase prices for raw milk can trigger the growth of milk imports, increase illegal dairy production in Ukraine and reduce cow population in households. The Draft Law # 2297 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On state support of agriculture" concerning the set of milk procurement prices, under which the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is provided with the right to regulate and set minimum prices for raw milk, releasing the Agrarian Fund from a duty to form an intervention milk fund.

AgroBrand Ukraine: American west and Swiss east
Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB) and "Kyiv International Contract Fair" within the framework of the annual contest "AgroBrand" held a traditional poll of farmers to determine the most successful brands among manufacturers of agricultural machinery, agrochemicals, seeds and dealers – resource companies for farmers. Export of vegetables for borsch in December 2012 doubled
According to «AgriSurvey» Agency, in December 2012, Ukraine shipped to foreign markets about 6770 tons of potatoes, onions, cabbage and carrots, which is almost 2.2 times higher than the previous month. Thus, in value terms the abovementioned exports increased respectively from 433 thousand USD to 882 thousand USD.

Ukraine may do without cane sugar in 2013
After two years of imports of raw sugar, 2012 has become the first year after Ukraine's accession to the WTO, when the quota for imports at reduced 2-percent tariff was not used. Balance calculations show that in 2013 sugar beet industry in Ukraine once again will be able to provide 100% of domestic demand for sugar. Strategic trading partners for Ukrainian agribusiness are Customs Union, and the EU
Ukraine actively trades agricultural and food products with the countries of the European Union, as well as with the members of the Customs Union. During eleven months of 2012 Ukraine exported to these countries agricultural products worth about 9 billion U.S. dollars, which is 58% of the total exports of these products in 2012.

First time poultry meat exports beat imports
According to the State Statistics Service, in September poultry meat imports declined compared with the previous month and was at the level of 8.8 thousand t, while exports rose to 9.3 thousand t. 28% of agroholdings suffer lack of storage facilities

Growth in corn and soybeans yields in Ukraine 2 times higher than in USA, Brazil and Argentina
Productivity growth in the agricultural sector in Ukraine in the last 10 years is much higher than in its main competitors in the global market. Ukraine earned 5 billion U.S. dollars on agricultural products in January-July
Exports of agricultural products in January-July this year amounted to 9.1 billion U.S. dollars, while imports during the same period amounted to 4.2 billion U.S. dollars. Thus, a positive net balance of foreign trade in agricultural products amounted to about $ 5 billion, which is 60% higher than in 2011.
