In the new State budget of Ukraine the expenditures for agricultural industry have been reduced by 20%
On March 27, the changes to the State budget of Ukraine 2014 have been made: the profitable part is determined in the amount of 372.9 bln UAH, the expenditure part is 436.8 bln UAH, and the limited amount of deficit is 68.6 bln UAH. The budget allocates for agriculture 1.6% (6.8 bln UAH) from the planned expenditure part, which means reducing of funds up to 1.7 bln UAH or 19.9% compared with the previously approved budget.

Increasing of profitability in agricultural industry in 2014 is not expected - UCAB
According to the State statistics service of Ukraine, the level of profitability of agriculture in 2013 was 11.3%, that is by 8.7 points less than in 2012. In particular, profitability of crop production dropped by 11 points and also amounted to 11.3%. According to forecasts of Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB), in 2014, rising in profitability of growing the major agricultural crops in not expected because of the difficult economic situation in the country, rising prices for material and technical resources, regulatory barriers and the lack of funding and Governmental support.

Imports of pig fat (lard) for the last five years has increased by 30%
In 2013 Ukraine has imported 44.4 ths t of pig fat (lard) that is 30% more than five years ago. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

20% of agricultural lands in Ukraine can stay not sown
As of March 13, 306 thousand hectares of land are sown by grains and legumes, mainly in Southern and Eastern Ukraine, which is 11% of the anticipated cultivated areas. Losses of most agricultural crops last year, and the lack of any funding caused by the difficult economic and political situation in Ukraine may lead to significant losses of grains and oilseeds harvest in 2014. Thus, by estimation of the President of Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB) Alex Lissitsa, farmers will not be able to sow 20% of agricultural lands, that will lead to a loss of 11.1 million tons of the harvest or 25.1 billion revenue at current prices.

Capitalization of Ukrainian agricultural companies decreased by 30%
Ukrainian agricultural companies represented on the international stock exchanges as of March 11, 2014 lost 29.8 % of market capitalization compared to the similar date of 2013. A year ago 14 main representatives of Ukrainian agricultural industry have been evaluated in 6968,9 mln USD, but today their market capitalization is estimated at 4893 mln USD. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club".

In 2014 areas under corn won't change
About 80% of agricultural producers do not plan to change the sowing area under corn in 2014. This is evidenced by the results of survey conducted by the agency AgriSurvey.

Exports of live cattle from Ukraine increased in 4.5 times
According to the State Statistics Committee last year Ukraine exported 10.5 ths heads of live cattle, that is in 4.5 times more than the figures of 2012. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

Certification of grain quality costs for farmers extra $ 1 billion UAH
According to the International Finance Corporation, annual expences of agricultural producers on certification of grain quality and food processing accounted for 136 mln UAH in 2011/12 marketing year. Now, because of increasing exports of grain and technical crops, these costs can amount to 160 mln UAH.

Profitability of growing major crops dropped significantly in 2013 - survey
Over 50% of farmers noted that profitability for each of the major crops has dropped in 2013. Such results are outlined in survey of independent agricultural enterprises, conducted by AgriSurvey in January 2014.

In 2013, exports of sunflower oil decreased by 404,6 ths t (11,2%) up to 3209,4 ths t compared to the previous year. In money equivalent, the reduction amounts to 693,1 mln USD or 17,4%. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

Export of agricultural products has decreased by 4.8% for the year
For Ukrainian agriculture, 2013 ended with positive balance in foreign trade – 8,8 bln USD, that is 14,7% less than the previous year. Herewith, exports of agricultural products totaled 17 bln USD, that is 4,8% less than the previous year's figures. The same time, imports increased by 8.8% and totaled 8,2 bln USD. The positive balance of foreign trade in dairy products has dropped by 14%
In 2013, Ukraine exported dairy products totaling for 515,0 mln USD, and imported – for 241,5 mln USD. Thus, the balance of foreign trade in dairy products amounted to 273,5 mln USD and it is 14% less than the indicators of 2012. UCAB President participated in the Panel Discussion of "Global Forum for Food and Agriculture 2014" in Berlin
Today, 17 January 2014, in Berlin (Germany) during the international exhibition-fair "Green Week", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Germany held a "Global Forum for Food and Agriculture". Within the Forum it was organized a panel discussion on the topic "Eastern Europe as key region to contribute to global food security" where the President of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" Alex Lissitsa took part.

In the first quarter of 2013/2014 marketing year export of sunflower seeds decreased by 80%
In September-November 2013/14 MY export of sunflower seeds from Ukraine decreased by 80,1% or 47.1 thousand tons compare to the same period in 2012/13 MY and totaled just 11.7 thousand tons. Against the background of the predicted record gross harvest of the crop in 10-10.6 million tons, the pace of export turned out to be quite slow. Main contractors on export of sunflower are: Turkey, Russian Federation and the European Union.

Consumption of domestic apples up in Ukraine
Over the first five months of this year, Ukraine imported by 42.3% (35,300 tons) of apples less against the same period of the previous year. Reduction of exports also took place by 18.9% (673 tons). Apple production grows every year, therefore such foreign trade indexes testify to the increase of internal consumption.

Ukraine wastes a quarter of all vegetables
Total quantity of wasted vegetables is 27% of all yield or 2,6-3 million tons. This is the results of the previous year excluding potatoes. 2,1-2,3 million tons of vegetables were lost in production (78% of total losses ), processors and consumers wasted 0,5-0,7 million tons ( 22%) of vegetables.

Ukrainians started eating more meat than sausages
Within the first six months of 2013 the production of meat in carcass weight in Ukraine has increased by 9.3% to 1.13 million tons. However sausage production remained at the same level. This means that Ukrainians consume more raw meat. This was reported in the Association Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB).

In Europe more than 50% of milk producers are unprofitable
In 2012 less than half of the farmers specialized in the milk production in the European Union were profitable. In addition a small amount of producers was on the verge of profitability. These are the results of the international comparison of the cost of production of milk, which were presented at the annual congress of the Association "European dairy farmers" held in Falkenberg (Sweden) on June 26-28, 2013.

For the first time Ukraine has managed to avoid the seasonal decline in milk prices
In the first half of 2013 the average purchase price of Class I milk from farms ranged from 3,75 to 4,05 UAH/Kg. This slight variation means that Ukraine for the first time within many last years has managed to avoid the seasonal collapse in prices. Ukrainians consume twice as many tomatoes as Germans
According to the calculations made by the agency «AgriSurvey» based on the data of the State Statistics on the production of tomatoes in Ukraine, as well as export and import tomatoes and tomato products, throughout last three years Ukrainians consume an average of 45 kg of tomatoes per capita per year. At the same time, according to the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food of Germany, the Germans consumed about 20 kg of tomatoes per capita last year.

Ukrainian agricultural brunch increased the GDP index
According to State Statistic Service of Ukraine data, Ukraine increased the GDP index in agricultural brunch, hunting and forestry to 9746 million UAH in first quarter of 2013. It’s in 883 million UAH, or 5.7% more, comparing to similar period of 2012 in constant prices of 2007 year. Increasing is based on growing of stockbreeding production, mainly due to large farms.

Ukrainian agriculture keeps the investment attractiveness
Ukrainian agro-industrial complex was able to keep the investment attractiveness, as evidenced by the statistics of foreign direct investment in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. In these industries were invested near 773.8 million U.S. dollars on 1 of April 2013. It’s by 45.1 million U.S. dollars (6.2%) more than on 1 of January 2013.
