Together with the President of the UCAB, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Oleksandr Sen, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Petrikov, as well as the representatives of "Sberbank of Russia”, Evonik Industries AG and Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) were involved into the discussion.

During the event it was discussed the fact of increasing the world population from the current seven to 9.5 billionst by 2050. Against this background there is a need to significantly enlarge global productivity of agricultural production, and a special role in this belongs to Eastern Europe. In particular, Ukraine has considerable potential for increasing the production of agricultural products, because the performance of the domestic agriculture is comparatively low and it still has a lot of uncultivated lands.

The effective use of land melioration, openness to innovation in agricultural technologies, approaches to the development and management of agricultural markets, improving access to financing can significantly increase efficiency of Ukrainian agriculture, thereby improving the economic situation of our country and making its contribution to the global fight against hunger ", - said Alex Lissitsa.
