Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB) and "Kyiv International Contract Fair" within the framework of the annual contest "AgroBrand" held a traditional poll of farmers to determine the most successful brands among manufacturers of agricultural machinery, agrochemicals, seeds and dealers – resource companies for farmers. Preliminary results indicate some regional differences in farmers’ preferences.
Poll results in the western regions of Ukraine show that in the category "Best manufacturer of agricultural machinery" the undisputed leader in brand recognition is John Deere Company. Thus, in the west, the popularity of vehicles of this brand is the highest - 55% of respondents indicated that they consider them the best. The second place goes to Claas (23%), the third one – to Minsk Tractor Plant (17%), and Case New Holland (7%) rounds out the top four.
"An interesting result of the competition is that regional differences in the popularity of brands are more or less clearly marked," - says the director of UCAB agency AgriSurvey Taras Gagalyuk. "For example, if in the west another most popular company is an American seed producer Pioneer, in the east serious recognition is given to agrochemicalі and seeds under the brand name of a Swiss company Syngenta».
Meanwhile, according to a poll, the best manufacturer of agrochemical products in western regions is Bayer CropScience (48%), which undergoes considerable competition from the part of Syngenta (36%). The third place is occupied by BASF (about 11%). The most popular seed producer in the West is Pioneer (25%). Second place is shared by Syngenta (12%) and Monsanto (12%). In the eastern Ukraine, the situation is different. Popularity of manufacturers of agrochemical products is distributed as follows: Syngenta (41%), Bayer CropScience (34%) and BASF (16%). Among the seed-producers the leaders are: Syngenta (45%), Pioneer (32%) and Monsanto (11%).
Mr. Gagalyuk claims that interesting results are also observed in the central and southern regions, but they will be announced during the final summing up. Winners will be awarded on February 12 within the framework of exhibition "Grain Technology 2013”.
Information note: "AGROBRAND" contest was founded by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" together with "Kyiv International Contract Fair" LLC in 2009. The aim of the competition is to build and develop awareness of brands, objective assessment of the effectiveness of marketing policy of resource companies, to study the market dynamics and changes in the requirements of consumers. According to the results of the contest the most successful brands among suppliers of agricultural products: "The best manufacturer of agricultural machinery," "Best Producer of agrochemicals", "Best Producer of seeds" and "Best dealer in the field of resource supply in Ukraine" are awarded. The methodology of the survey is represented by a telephone interview with the CEO/chief agronomist/chief engineer of an agricultural enterprise. The sampling error of the survey is ± 3% per 1000 respondents. According to the results, winners will be awarded within the framework of exhibition "Grain Technology 2013” (on February 12).
