Dynamics of prices for bread must be accompanied by social care - UCAB

In case of the increase in prices for bakery products the government must provide compensation to people with low income. This was stated by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB), commenting on the widespread news about the possibility of increase of price for bread up to 5 UAH.

More investors calculate the possibility of establishment of walnut, apricot, cherry or peach orchards. That is the deficit of these crops that the market suffers for the last 5 years. According to the survey of AgriSurvey Agency of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB), the cost of pork production in Ukraine is one of the highest in the world. The main reasons are the high feed and power costs. At the same time, experts of Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) claim that there exists a global problem of excessive use of resources for the production of meat. In the long term, they predict a decline of the culture of meat consumption in the world.

Production of horticultural saplings increased by 40% over last 5 years

The potential for improvement of the efficiency of agriculture is much higher in developing countries than in developed countries. This point of view was expressed by Professor of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in University of Goettingen in Germany Ludwig Theuvsen. He said that Ukraine plays an important role in supplying the world population with food, but at this stage investors are discouraged by unreliability and unpredictability of the domestic conjuncture of the agricultural sector.
