In 2019 agri-food export from Ukraine increased by 19%
In 2019 agri-food export from Ukraine amounted to USD 22.2 billion that is 19% more than in 2018. Import of the specified products over the same period last year increased by 14% as well amounting to USD 5.7 billion. In general, foreign trade balance of agri-food products totalled USD 16.5 billion indicating that Ukraine is a net exporter of these products.

Ukraine has historically increased its wheat export this marketing year
Within less than 7 months of 2019/2020 wheat export exceeded index of the entire previous season. As of 27 January 2020, volume of the exported wheat over the period of July 2019 - January 2020 exceeded the annual level of 2018/19 MY by 30 thousand tonnes and reached 15.6 million tonnes.

Brazilian farmers are suffering from low corn prices
Over the past two months, the cost of Brazilian corn has declined significantly - from USD 200/MT to USD 159/MT on delivery terms of CIF, Sao Paulo. Even the USDA forecast for the decline of corn production in the country doesn’t stop the fall in prices - the agency reduced its production figures in 2017/2018 MY to 83,5 mln tons (-1.5 mln tons to the previous forecast).

China is a new player in the global market of sunflower meal
In 2017-18, China significantly increased the volume of sunflower meal imports after the Ministry of Agriculture of the country signed sanitary and phytosanitary protocols and requirements for quality characteristics of imported sunflower meal from Russia and Ukraine. It is forecasted that in 2017-18, China will import about 150 thous. tons of meal. According to analysts of the Middle Kingdom, this tendency will continue in the coming years due to the rapidly growing demand for protein foods.

The projected decline in soybean sowings this year is confirmed
The pace of this year's soybean planting season has fallen by 7% compared with last year's figures. As of May 29, Ukraine has sowed 1670 thous. hectares of soybeans, which is 87% of the planned sowing areas this year. In comparison, 1 830 thous. hectares or 94% of the plan were sown at that date in the past year.

The weather dictates its rules of game on the global wheat market
World wheat production in 2018/2019 MY will decrease to 747,7 mln tons, that is 10,6 mln tons less than a year earlier. At the same time, consumption will continue to grow and, according to forecasts of the USDA analysts, will reach 753, 8 mln tons, which is 10 mln tons more than last year's figure.

Shashlik season is open

Trade war between the USA and China - the place of Ukraine
March 8, US President Donald Trump signed a 25 percent duty on steel and 10 percent on aluminum to protect national interests. In response, China made up a list of 128 products imported from the United States, on which it is planned to introduce duties in 15%. The list includes fruits, dried fruit, nuts, wine, ginseng, seamless steel tubes and others.

Flower supplies increased by 25% in 2017
Last year Ukraine imported cut flowers for almost USD 7 mln, which in real terms is about 92.2 mln flowers and 25% higher than the indicator of 2016. Roses (36%), chrysanthemums (33%) and carnations (29%) were dominant in the import structure.

The rate of wheat export declined
Since the beginning of the 2017/2018 marketing year, as at January 1, wheat exports from Ukraine decreased by 800 thous. tons compared to the same period last year and amounted to 11.2 mln tons.
