Ukrainians consume twice as many tomatoes as Germans
According to the calculations made by the agency «AgriSurvey» based on the data of the State Statistics on the production of tomatoes in Ukraine, as well as export and import tomatoes and tomato products, throughout last three years Ukrainians consume an average of 45 kg of tomatoes per capita per year. At the same time, according to the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food of Germany, the Germans consumed about 20 kg of tomatoes per capita last year.

The grain yield in 2013/14 MY will become one of the largest harvests over the years of independence
During the 2013/14 marketing year, Ukraine plans to harvest about 54.4 million tons of grain crops and exports about 26.3 million tons. This was stated by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB).

Ukrainian agricultural brunch increased the GDP index
According to State Statistic Service of Ukraine data, Ukraine increased the GDP index in agricultural brunch, hunting and forestry to 9746 million UAH in first quarter of 2013. It’s in 883 million UAH, or 5.7% more, comparing to similar period of 2012 in constant prices of 2007 year. Increasing is based on growing of stockbreeding production, mainly due to large farms.

Ukrainian agriculture keeps the investment attractiveness
Ukrainian agro-industrial complex was able to keep the investment attractiveness, as evidenced by the statistics of foreign direct investment in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. In these industries were invested near 773.8 million U.S. dollars on 1 of April 2013. It’s by 45.1 million U.S. dollars (6.2%) more than on 1 of January 2013.

Sale of pigs for slaughter 18.3% up at agricultural enterprises
Active investments into pig growing and boosting of production by many companies brought its results - in January-April 2013, agricultural enterprises sold 154,800 tons of pigs for slaughter in live weight, which is 18.3% against the previous year indexes. The Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association told about this.

Domestic farmers increased investments in farm machinery up to 197 million USD
Despite the heat wave in 2012 and ongoing efforts to increase the fiscal burden on farmers, agricultural producers do not cut investments in fixed assets, particularly in modern agricultural machinery. This is evidenced by the volume of foreign trade in agricultural equipment. Figures, published by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, show that in Q1 of 2013 imports and exports of tillage, seeding, harvesting equipment and machinery made up about 197 million USD, which is 5% more than in 2012.

Exports of grain crops in MY 2013/14 may break five-year record, providing predictable government policy
According to preliminary estimates, grain exports from Ukraine in MY 2013/14 will amount to 25 million tons. This figure is to exceed the largest sale volumes of grains from Ukraine to foreign markets of MY 2008/09, which amounted to 24.8 million tons, - states the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB). Thus, experts emphasize that increasing production trends in crop production and animal husbandry may be preserved solely due to government support, the only efficient mechanism of which are tax incentives for agriculture.

Agriculture to stop in case of tax exemptions cancellation
In case of possible repeal of special tax conditions for farmers, the number of loss-making enterprises in the agrarian sector will double and their share will increase from 17-30% to 50-60% of the total number. This was stated by the leaders of eleven agribusiness associations in a letter addressed to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to take into account their views on the preferential tax regimes for farmers to prevent the decline in Ukrainian agriculture.
