Association «Ukrainian Agribusiness Club» together with UCABevent Agency held IX International Conference «Large Farm Management» (LFM) on September 19-20. This year the underlying theme of the event - debatable question about the role of the agrarian sector in the state development. Is the agrarian sector an economic driver capable of generating foreign exchange earnings and being competitive on world markets or this industry should have another function that ensures the stability of the development of regions and rural areas.

Areas planted with soybeans decreased by 15%
Ukrainian agrarians in 2018 have sown 1709 thous. hectares of soybeans, that is 15% less than in the previous year. The largest reduction of sown areas were observed in the central and northern regions.

Brazilian farmers are suffering from low corn prices
Over the past two months, the cost of Brazilian corn has declined significantly - from USD 200/MT to USD 159/MT on delivery terms of CIF, Sao Paulo. Even the USDA forecast for the decline of corn production in the country doesn’t stop the fall in prices - the agency reduced its production figures in 2017/2018 MY to 83,5 mln tons (-1.5 mln tons to the previous forecast).

Agrarian export rates are lower than last year
According to the State Fiscal Service, for the first half of 2018, exports of agricultural products from Ukraine decreased by 1,7% compared to the same period of 2017. In the overall structure of exports from Ukraine, the share of agricultural exports increased from 36,4% in the first half of 2017 to 36,7% in 2018.
