Ukraine: winter grains sprout up throughout 7.52 mln ha
As of November 23, 2012, winter grain crops in Ukraine sprout up throughout the areas of 7.52 mln ha, or 93% of the planted areas on the date, informed the press-service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
92% of the sprout areas showed good and satisfactory condition, weak and thinned – 8%. Winter grain crops did not spring throughout 550 thsd ha.
According to preliminary data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine planted winter grain crops for the harvest-2013 throughout 8.07 mln ha, or 99% of the forecasted areas. In particular, agrarians planted winter wheat throughout 6.67 mln ha, up 1% compared to the forecast, rye - 306 thsd ha (100% of the forecast), winter barley - 1.1 mln ha (91%).
The Ministry notes that due to the lack of moisture, agrarians of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Kherson oblast were able to plant winter crops throughout 89% of the planned areas, Luhansk oblast - 93%, Nikolayev oblast – 97%.
Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasted that Ukraine will plant winter grains for the harvest-2013 throughout 8.1 mln ha, down 3.6% compared to 2011.
