Ukraine. Winter crops sown on 78% of projected acreage
As of October 11, all categories of farms in Ukraine planted 6.7 million hectares of winter grain crops, which is 78% of the forecast, the agriculture ministry reported.
In particular, winter wheat was sown on an area of 6,000,000 hectares (84% of the forecast), rye on 290,000 hectares (84%), and barley on 650,000 hectares (47%). Winter rape was sown on an area of one million hectares, which is 83% of the forecast.
The projected acreage of winter crops for grain total 8.5 million hectares, almost 600,000 hectares more than planned by the beginning of planting, including wheat - 6,765,100 hectares (378,700 ha more), rye - 345,300 hectares (36,800 ha more), and barley - 1,381,600 hectares (182,300 ha more).
