Ukraine to complete the sowing campaign of early spring crops throughout 4.63 mln ha
Ukraine has completed the sowing campaign of early spring crops throughout the area of 4.63 mln ha, declared Yuri Melnik, the Minister of Agrarian Policy, on April 22.
Agrarians completed sowing works of spring barley, peas and oats, explained the Minister. At the same time, they continue sowing late spring crops, like maize.
During the sowing campaign, agrarians faced difficulties with financing and weather conditions – night frosts, added Y.Melnik.
As a reminder, according to the forecasts of the Ministry, sowing areas under harvest 2009 will total over 27 mln ha (the level of 2008). The structure of the sowings will also include 15.9 mln ha (59%) of grains, up 303.000 ha compared to the previous year.\
