Ukraine subsidies for sugar beet and flax increased
The Ukrainian Government has allocated UAH 230 million from the state budget's stabilization fund to pay subsidies to the agricultural producers of sugar beets and flax.
The information and communications department of the Government's secretariat reported that the funds had been allocated to the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry on a non-repayable basis to provide state support to crop production. A Government resolution of September 23, 2009 foresaw the allocation of UAH 170 million for the payment of subsidies to the agricultural producers of sugar beets and flax. Thus, the total amount of state subsidies should grow by UAH 60 million to UAH 230 million. Earlier, the Government also declared its intention to increase the amount of compensation to the producers of sugar beets from UAH 750 to UAH 1,000 per hectare.
