Ukraine. Quotas have been introduced, grain exports blocked
On October 19 the regulation on grain exports quotas introduction went into effect after it was published in the government’s newspaper “Uriadovyi kurier”.
The regulation introduces grain exports quota on the level of 2.702 MMT including 2 MMT of corn, 500 KMT of wheat, 200 KMT of barley, 1 KMT of rye and 1 KMT of buckwheat. The quotas will be valid till December 31, 2010 and allocated in proportion to submitted applications.
Ukraine already has experience of grain exports restriction. The country introduced grain exports quotas in 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. Now UkrAgroConsult is working on the article on peculiarities of the current and those seasons.
