Ukraine: over 56% of winter crops sowings face good condition
According to data from regions, as of February 10, 2011, winter grain sowings in Ukraine faced good condition throughout 4.54 mln ha, which totaled 56.2% from the general winter grain sowing areas. 3.04 mln ha of winter grain sowings, or 37.6%, faced satisfactory condition, marked the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. Nearly 500 thsd ha (6.2%) of winter crops sowings showed weak and thinned condition.
Winter wheat showed good condition indices throughout the areas of 3.75 mln ha or 57.4% of the general areas, satisfactory condition – 2.4 mln ha (36.7%), weak and thinned condition – 386.8 thsd ha (5.9%). Winter barley showed good condition indices throughout 0.58 mln ha or 46.6% of the areas, satisfactory condition – 0.559 mln ha (44.9%), weak and thinned condition – 0.106 mln ha (8.5%).
Winter rye sowings faced good and satisfactory condition throughout 206 thsd ha (71.7% of the areas), and 74 thsd ha (26%), respectively.
As of the reporting date, rapeseed sowing areas faced good condition throughout 53.4% of the sowings, satisfactory condition – 38.2%, weak and thinned condition – 8.4%.
The general areas of 8.088 mln ha of winter grain sowing areas faced appearance of seedlings throughout 8.086 mln ha.
