Ukraine Exporters Cancel Wheat Orders Amid Govt Curbs
Grain traders in Ukraine are canceling wheat export orders for several thousand metric tons each due to the government's decision to limit exports to 500,000 tons for the rest of 2010, several trading executives said separately Monday and Tuesday.
Unlike Russia, which has banned wheat exports but had limited exposure to the Asian market, Ukraine is a major supplier to countries such as South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
These countries are now turning to central Europe, Australia and the U.S. for their wheat needs.
