Ukraine, EU finally initial agreement on free trade area
Ukraine and the EU have finally completed the technical process of finalizing the text of the section of the association agreement, which concerns the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area. The final initialling of the text took place in Brussels on Thursday.
The press service of EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht told this to a UKRINFORM reporter in Brussels.
"Today, in Brussels, the parties finally completed the technical initialling of the section of the association agreement, which concerns a deep and comprehensive free trade area," the press service said.
As reported, Ukraine and the EU started talks on the signing of the association agreement in 2007. On December 19, 2011, following the Ukraine-EU summit, the sides announced the completion of the negotiation process on the association agreement, including the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area.
On March 30, 2012, the sides initialed the political part of the document, as well as the first and last pages of the economic section.
