In 2016 the domestic agricultural products were exported to the amount over USD 215 million to Germany, and the domestic agricultural products to the amount of USD 330 million were imported.

Prospects of the German-Ukrainian cooperation in agriculture sector were discussed on 20 January at the Ukrainian Agribusiness Evening organized by the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’ within the framework of Green Week 2017 held in Berlin.

‘For Ukraine, Germany is a high margin premium market, not just raw products but ready-to-eat products, - said Taras Vysotskyi, General Director of the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’. For example, 1/3 of honey exported from Ukraine is supplied to Germany. The supplies of ready for use consumer products, such as macaroni products and sunflower oil are actively increasing as well’.

At the same time, the General Director of UCAB noted that Germany is an important supplier of technologies in Ukraine, including technical equipment and makes the top 3 suppliers of protection products for crops and seeds. ‘In 2016, the import of maize seeds increased twentyfold, the import of wheat seed increased by 20%; moreover, the Ukrainian farmers use 66% of rape seed produced in Germany’ said Taras Vysotskyi.

In general, the event gathered more than 130 representatives of the agricultural business in Germany and Ukraine. Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’ (UCAB), Eastern Committee of the German Economy of German Agribusiness Alliance and German Association of Agricultural Machinery Building were organizers of the evening. The evening was conducted with the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany. The event was attended by Taras Kutovyi, Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Christian Dreyer, President of the German Association of Agricultural Machinery Building, Andriy Melnyk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Germany, Dirk Shtratmann, Speaker of Eastern Committee of the German Economy of German Agribusiness Alliance.
