State will ensure stable prices for bread - Prysiazhniuk
The price of bread will not rise, because Ukraine has enough food grain. The Agrarian Fund began its interventions to keep the price of flour.
This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the press service of the ministry reported.
"This year, as a whole, we have harvested 14.5 million tons of wheat, 80% of which is food wheat. Besides, we have wheat carryover. Therefore, there is no food grain deficit. However, in foreign markets there is an increased demand for wheat, due to which we are witnessing an increase in purchase prices. That is why the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food starts to use safety devices to prevent a growth of bread prices for Ukrainian consumers," the minister said.
He stressed that another important step is to ensure a balance of prices in the domestic market through flour interventions from the Agrarian Fund reserves. "Today, the Agrarian Fund launched flour interventions for bakeries and retail market in order to maintain prices. This year, the volume of food grains at the Agrarian Fund is at a high balance level. The Agrarian Fund has accumulated about 2 million tons, which can be used to stabilize the price situation during the marketing year," Prysiazhniuk informed.
The minister added that the Agrarian Fund will use about 1.2 million tons of grain this year.
