According to the Mìnistry of Incomes, for the first seven months of the year Ukraine has imported dairy products totaling 114 mln USD. Although it is only 2% less than the analogous period of the previous year, but in natural expression this reduction in imports was quite significant. Such estimation has been done by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

Reducing of imported dairy products has been observed on most commodity positions. The volume of imported cheeses since the beginning of the year has declined by 31% - up to 7.3 thousand tons. Import of milk and non concentrated cream has dropped by 42%, and milk and concentrated cream  – by 33%. During the seven months of this year it was delivered 4.5 ths tons of fermented milk products, whereas for this period of last year – 7,2 ths tons.  It should be noted that although it is observed negative balance in foreign trade by butter, as well as by fermented milk products, but lately we can see the positive trend towards significant reduction in the gap between the imports and exports.

"The reduction in the imports of dairy products is absolutely reasonable as because of the devaluation of hryvna imported products became quite expensive. In addition, due to complicated trade relations with Russia the offer of Ukrainian dairy products on the market has increased significantly, increasing the stocks. Further reducing of dairy products imports will continue, because in last days of July, Russia completely banned the export of dairy products to its market.Besides, some impact on imports reducing will have increasing in dollar value ", - said Alina Zharko, the Expert on Agricultural markets of UCAB.
