Chicken became the export driver this year
This year poultry meat took second place in volumes of supplies abroad (+102 mln USD), the leader became wheat (+174 mln USD).
According to the State Fiscal Service, during 10 months of 2018, the volume of export of agricultural products from Ukraine in comparison with the same period in 2017 increased by almost USD 140 mln to USD 14,7 bln. The share of export of agricultural products in the general structure of exports from Ukraine in January-October 2018 amounted to 37,8%.
The last six months (from March to August) there was lagging volume of exports from last year's figures. Only during the last quarter managed to catch up with the indicators in 2017 and by October exceed them.
There is an increase in export revenues of both crop and livestock production. Export of livestock products increased by 11,9% or by USD 106 mln. In the United States, supplies of poultry meat abroad have increased substantially (+102 mln USD). Exports of crop production increased by 3%, mainly due to wheat (USD 174 million), rapeseeds (USD 90 mln) and corn (USD 88 mln). There was also the increase in exports of prepared foodstuffs by USD 80 mln (4%), mainly due to the supplies of soybean oilcake on USD 37 mln.
The supplies of fats and oils decreased by 7% or USD 262 mln. The main reason was the decline in the supplies of sunflower oil to China.
If the current dynamics will continue in the future, there is every chance that this year Ukraine will be able to reach record volumes of export of agricultural products at the level of USD 18 billion. Recall that in 2017, agricultural products were exported on USD 17,8 bln, that is USD 100 mln less than the record figure of 2012 (USD 17,9 bln).
