John Deere to extend its dealer network in Ukraine in 2011

The world's leading manufacturer of agricultural and forestry machinery, a leading producer of construction equipment, as well as equipment used in lawn, grounds and turf care John Deere corporation (USA) plans to extend its dealer and service network in Ukraine in 2011.

“Within the CIS region, Ukraine remains one of the most important markets for us, inasmuch as the country’s soils, climate, farm structure and infrastructure make it an ideal breadbasket between the continents. Ukraine will be well advised to capitalize on this particular strength as demand for food, fiber an renewable energy will increase in its neighboring markets,” said Peter Krimm, Country Manager Ukraine and General Manager John Deere Ukraina.

According to him, John Deere plans to extend dealer network, which consists of 5 dealers today and foresees expansion to 6-7 dealers in 2011, to cover all areas of Ukraine with dedicated sales, service and spare parts network, which includes trainings for dealer personnel, for machine operators and for customers as a key ingredient. The ultimate goal of the company is to reduce the driving time from a customer to a dealer location to maximum 2- 2.5 hours.

The fact that John Deere’s largest ever single deal on a purchase of combines, including spare parts and training, was concluded with the Ukrainian government in 1996-1998 underpins the company’s commitment to this important market. These combines helped to increase the productivity of farms in Ukraine, including enhancement of the rural infrastructure.

“John Deere’s growing presence in Ukraine, Russia and the CIS markets clearly reflects our commitment to the Region. And the major sale of 1,049 combines in 1996-1998 to this important market has formed a solid basis of mutual collaboration with governmental authorities/agencies and the domestic farming community. This is something, we can build on for the future. Likewise, Deere will also strive to enhance its product offering for midsize and smaller scale farms,” added Dirk Stratmann, Regional Sales Manager John Deere CIS.

John Deere Ukraina continuously promotes new products and technologies in Ukraine, providing full integration of innovative and intelligent solutions that can be applied on tractors, harvesting equipment and implements. Therefore, the most advanced technologies such as guidance, documentation and Telematic applications are already available to Ukrainian farmers, including desktop software for the farm provided by LandData Eurosoft.

Every working day John Deere invests approximately $ 4.5 million into Research and Development, i.e. 4.1 % of the company’s equipment sales. Much of that money is spent for developments that are targeted to support the prosperity of the world leading agribusinesses, including Ukraine and the CIS.

For example, single or cylinder tine separator combines are available with “iSeries” packages which can increase the combine’s productivity by up to 23 % while running with low losses and harvesting grain with perfect quality. This is made possible by the combination of the GPS-based guidance system AutoTrac, HarvestDoc documentation software which helps the farmer to make planning decision for the next season, and HarvestLab Near-Infra-Red (NIR) sensor which records the moisture content of the grass or maize and automatically optimizes the length-of-cut to provide best possible forage structure. This software package is compatible with desktop solutions from LandData Eurosoft, one of Europe’s leading farm management software suppliers.

All these systems are easy to operate for the drivers, giving them a comfortable working environment. Operators can focus on optimized machine operation and can run machines on the optimum performance even on long working days during the peak season.
