Imports of lard decreased by 21%
According to customs statistics, in January-October 2015 imports of lard and fat constituted 46.6 ths. t, which is 21% less than the corresponding figures of the previous year. This situation was caused by reduced production of sausages, as imported lard and fat are then used in the meat-processing industry.
The main importing countries were Poland - 62%, Germany - 23% and the Netherlands - 9%. The average import price was about USD 0.60/kg, which is USD 0.30/kg cheaper than during the same period of 2014. Therefore cheaper raw materials were imported to Ukraine due to the devaluation of hryvnia and import duties on products.
