Government to implement long-term lands irrigation program
The government program of lands irrigation is long-term, and it will be implemented not only in Kherson region, but also in Crimea and other regions, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Thursday when attending the base pumping station of the Main Department of Kakhovka Main Canal in Kherson region.
"Our task is to supply water to people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is such a problem in Kherson region, and it will be solved. The money will be allocated,” the head of government noted.
He said that on Wednesday at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers they discussed the problem of water supply and irrigation system development in Ukraine. "This trip was planned long ago to see how a program of rehabilitation of irrigated lands is being implemented here. This is especially true with regard to significant climate change,” the prime minister noted.
At the same time, sharing his impressions on visiting a farm which reap the harvest twice a year thanks to the irrigation system, Azarov noted the high efficiency of irrigation systems: "We see that in a very poor conditions one can get a good harvest".
