Fifth part of annual wheat consumption should be reserved - expert
It is necessary to keep 20% of the annual wheat consumption in the state reserve.
This opinion was expressed by President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Volodymyr Klymenko at a meeting of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov with representatives of agro-industrial associations, the UGA told UKRINFORM.
"It is time when we could have 40% in the state reserve, and there is space for keeping, because public elevators are filled by only 40%, and it is necessary to load them," the Association head said.
He believes that filling the state reserves with food wheat will protect from export restrictions.
"I would suggest considering the question that a part of the state reserves be kept in grain. This is an extremely marketable commodity today. And such a mechanism could solve many problems," Klymenko says.
As reported, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during a meeting with agro-industrial associations said that, in the 2011-2012 marketing year, Ukraine exported more than 23 million tons of grain.
