Share of employed citizens in agriculture has increased to 17.5%
According to information of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine published on July 15, 2016, share of employed individuals in agriculture has increased to 17.5% in 2015. From 2010 to 2015, the share has increased by 2.1%, but absolute amount of employees has decreased from 20.3 to 16.4 M during the same time period.
Published statistics demonstrates annual growth in 0.17% (2010-2014, CAGR), but after occupation of Crimea and conflict in the East of Ukraine, 3.4% annual decline has been noted (2010-2015, CAGR). Annual increase of employees’ number in agriculture before the conflict was 3.5% and just after 2014 agro industry has demonstrated the slowest decrease within whole economy, particularly by 1.36% annually (3.42% - general within Ukraine).
In 2010-2015 Ukraine has lost 3.8 M of officially registered employees and in agriculture it was the lowest descent among most significant industries by the number of employees. Thus, downward in agro noted at level of 6% comparing to general losses, whereas in industrial production – 23%, trade and services – 35%, transportation and logistics – 10%. Along with agro employees’ number share increase, it’s notably that Ukrainian agriculture is able to hire new employees and develop its business to have sufficient competitiveness level on global markets.
