Agroholdings cultivate one-third of the land of all agricultural enterprises
The number of agroholdings and their land bank continues to grow in Ukraine.
If for definition the concept of agroholdings to take the amount of land that is cultivated by agrarian companies, then in 2017 there were 93 agricultural enterprises, cultivating more than 10 000 hectares. For comparison, in 2012 their number was equal to 80. Last year the share of agricultural land in using by agroholdings amounted to 29% of all agricultural enterprises, whereas in 2012 this figure was 25%.
During 5 years the total land bank of agroholdings increased from 5,6 mln hectares to 5,95 mln hectares in 2017, and an increase in agricultural land use by this category of agricultural enterprises totaled 6,3%. Given the dynamics of recent years, UCAB expects the continuation of these trends.
Agroholdings are unevenly represented in all Ukrainian oblasts. In 2017 the largest number of them was in Kyiv (32), Chernihiv (28) and Poltava (26) regions, while the smallest number of agricultural holdings were represented in Transcarpathian (1), Luhansk (5) and Chernivtsi (5) oblasts.
