EU meat sector is expected to be supported by strong demand
Prospects for EU commodity markets are favourable for the period 2013-2023, according to the European Commission's latest Medium-term Prospects. The medium-term forecast for arable crops is relatively positive, thanks to solid world demand and firm prices. The EU meat sector is expected to be supported by strong demand on the world market, while prospects of economic recovery should also allow for a higher consumption in Europe. Poultry meat will remain the most dynamic segment and pork Europe's favourite meat, while the decline in beef and sheep meat consumption is projected to continue.

Ukraine will increase meat exports by almost 10% in 2014, says ministry
Meat and meat products exports from Ukraine in 2014 could grow by 9.9% or 18,000 tonnes, to 200,000 tonnes, according to the forecast in the balances of the interagency working group at the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine.

Export of milk powder declined twice
For January-November 2013, Ukraine has exported 12.7 thousand tons of milk powder, which is two times less than the similar performance of the previous year. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

EBRD worsens forecast for reduction in Ukraine's GDP in 2013 to 0.8%
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has worsened its forecast for the reduction in Ukraine's GDP in 2013 from 0.5% to 0.8%, while maintaining the forecast for economic recovery in 2014 at 1.5%.

Draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "Amendments to The implementation of the mandatory technical control of tractors, self-propelled chassis, self-propelled agricultural, road-building and melioration machinery, agricultural machinery, other mechanisms", published on the website of State Agricultural Inspection, is fraught with corruption and monopoly on the market and increasing rates for the technical control of the machines. This was emphasized by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" in letters directed to the state agencies.
