EU wheat subdued on CBOT drop

Wheat prices in major western European markets were flat to lower on Tuesday, dampened by a dollar-driven fall in Chicago and sluggish export demand. Milling wheat futures in Paris continued to take their cue from the Chicago Board of Trade, where US wheat eased under pressure from abundant supplies and the dollar's rise to a 10-week high against the euro.

Grain reserve 20.9 million tons

Ukraine's agricultural enterprises (except for small-scale) dealing with the storage and processing of grain crops had 20.9 million tons grain as of December 1 (13% down on December 1, 2008), including 9.4 million tons of wheat, 4.6 million tons of barley, 4.7 million tons of corn, and 0.8 million tons of rye, the State Statistics Committee reported.

FAO examines Iran's grain production, use

In its latest report on Iran, the Food and Agricultural Organization cited a 5 million tons decrease in grain imports, 3.7 million tons of local wheat production, a stop in the growth of rice consumption, and the production of 95 percent of the meat used in the country in 2009.

EU wheat prices mostly up

Wheat prices in major western European markets were mostly higher on Monday, supported by a soyabean-led advance in US futures. Dealers said they were also closely monitoring cold weather in France although initial indications were that it appears unlikely to cause any damage to crops.
