The State Customs Service of Ukraine launched criminal charges against four grain trading companies: enterprises with foreign investments Serna and Vitalmar Agro, Alfred C. Toepfer International Ltd. (Ukraine) and Agroextra, upon invalid data submittal about exporting grain qualitative parameters.

Russia: grain export ban to come into force

From August 15 in Russia the grain export ban came into force. According to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on establishment of the export ban for the certain range of grain agricultural goods from the territory of the Russia Federation (dated August 5), the ban will be active till December 31. Wheat, barley, rye, maize, wheat or rye-wheat flour are in the ban list.

Russia’s grain harvest down 3% as of August 1

Russia’s grain harvest has amounted to 26.9 million tonnes as of August 1, down 3% from the same period of last year, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a report obtained by PRIME–TASS Friday.

95% of grain threshed in Ukraine

As of 12 August, 2010 Ukraine harvested 28.41 million tons of grain from an area of 11.52 million hectares (95%). The average yield of grain and leguminous crops is 24.7 centners per hectare.
