Farmers will lose 500 million uah annually in state regulation prices of milk
Adoption of the Law "On Amendments to Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine" On State Support of Agriculture of Ukraine " (concerning the regulation of purchasing prices for milk) may result in procurement of milk and lower prices for its producers. This was stated in the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UABC), commenting on the adoption by Parliament in second reading the draft law with registration number 10456.

FAO Food Price Index drops sharply

Bayer opens new wheat breeding centre in Germany
Bayer CropScience has opened a new European Wheat Breeding Center in Gatersleben, in the Saxony-Anhalt region of Germany, in order to develop new, high-quality wheat varieties against the backdrop of a growing world population. Work has begun in greenhouses and laboratories on an approximately 1,400 m2 facility at the Biotechpark Gatersleben Infrastruktur GmbH site. As well as developing wheat varieties with higher yields and enhanced properties for the central European market, the 40 employees in Gatersleben will also coordinate all of Bayer's wheat-breeding activities in Europe. Bayer invests some EUR 720 million worldwide in the research and development of crop protection agents and seeds every year. It is planned to increase this budget to approximately EUR 850 million by 2015.

The Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine forecasts reduction of winter wheat production volumes in 2012 by 42% - to 12.5 mln tonnes, against 21.6 mln tonnes in 2011, declared Tatyana Adamenko, Head of the agricultural meteorology department of the Hydrometeorological Center.

Purchase prices for pork will grow due to reduction of pig stock
Over a period from April 18 until May 10, noticeable reduction of purchase prices for pigs in live weight took place. Primarily, this drop is explained by reduction of demand for pork in live weight - a range of spring holidays has passed. At the same time, it is expected that in the nearest future its purchase price will demonstrate a growth dynamics, since, usually, its rise is demonstrated in summer.

Corn, soybean prices to rise
The CME Group corn, soybean and wheat markets are poised to trade higher Tuesday. The Early Calls for the commodities on Tuesday, June 4, 2012, are higher. Corn is seen opening 1-2 cents higher, soybeans 8-10 cents higher, and wheat 1-2 cents higher.
