Conflict between NBU and Ukrlandfarming may adversely affect the entire agriculture sector
A number of agricultural associations applied to Volodymyr Hroisman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, with a request to hold the meeting with representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Committees of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Valeriia Hontarieva, Head of the National Bank, in order to resolve the conflict between NBU and management of Ukrlandfarming, the largest agricultural holding in Ukraine.
Agricultural associations believe that restructuring of debt to the state has a positive impact not only on development of the company, but also on the entire agriculture sector.
In the opinion of signatories, current conflict between business and representatives of the executive government can lead to serious consequences, since it makes a negative signal not only for the national economy as a whole, but also for foreign investors conducting their activities in Ukraine. ‘If such company is destroyed, it will adversely impact on capitalization of the major Ukrainian agricultural companies and they will lose a lot of money’ – noted in the open letter. – Despite the difficult financial situation in 2016, agroholding produced products to the amount of more than USD 1.2 billion, paid taxes to the amount of USD 2 billion and paid salaries to the employees to the amount of USD 2.5 billion. This proves one more time that the company management is able to control situation as well as ensure carrying out the spring field work to the fullest extent under the condition of absence of pressure from the state’.
