Ukrainian agrarians call on European colleagues to lift tough unilateral restrictions on trade and jointly find a compromise solution
This is stated in an open appeal of Ukrainian Agribusiness Club and leading public associations of the agro-food sector of Ukraine. Nongovernmental Organizations and Unions of Producers of the Ukraine AgriFood sector is highly concerned about the situation that has developed with the ban on the import/transit of Ukrainian food to certain EU countries.

Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Calls on the United Nations to Stabilize, Extend and Expand the Black Sea Grain Initiative
687 vessels have exported 19 million tons of agricultural products to Africa, Asia, and the European Union from 3 Black Sea ports – Pivdenny, Chornomorsk, and Odesa – over the past 6 months. However, Ukrainian ports are now being forced to work at half of their capacity. The volume of the fleet entering the ports for loading has decreased, and the volume of exports has reduced by 3 million tons per month. The reason is the purposeful sabotage of inspections of ships on the Bosphorus by the Russian side.

Ukrainian Agribusiness ask EU Community for extension the preferential trade conditions between Ukraine and the EU
Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" together with member organizations of the Ukrainian National Agrarian Forum (UNAF) appeals to the EU Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council and Copa-Cogeca members organizations with a request to extend the preferential trade conditions between Ukraine and the EU at least till the end of 2024.

Forecast: in 2023 the sown area under grain in Ukraine will be reduced by 45%, and the gross harvest - by 60%
2023 will be full of significant changes in the agricultural sector of Ukraine. According to preliminary estimates, in 2023 in Ukraine the sown area under grain crops will be reduced by 45% and the grain harvest will be 60% less compared to the pre-war 2021. The reasons for this reduction are: a decrease in all sown areas, a change in the structure of crops and a decrease in the yield of grain crops.

Ukraine became a net importer of dairy products
For 9 months of 2020 Ukraine has exported milk and dairy products to the amount of USD 128.6 million and imported to the amount of USD 218.2 million. In other words, in 2020 Ukraine became a net importer of milk and dairy products.

UCAB reduces forecast of gross corn production to 32 million tons
Due to unfavourable weather conditions in July-August in a number of regions of Ukraine, UCAB reduced the forecast of gross harvest of late crops.

Import of butter has increased 7.7 times since the beginning of the year
In January-June 2020, dairy products were imported to the amount of USD 137 million which is 2.6 times more than over the same period last year. The increase of supplies to Ukraine from abroad took place in all groups of dairy products. Supply of butter grew more than 7.7 times (+6.5 thousand tons) whereas milk and non-condensed cream grew 5 times (+5 thousand tons).

Forecasts of the world grain production have been reduced
According to July forecast of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), expectations of the world grain production in 2020/21 MY decreased by 29.8 million tons to 2,730.3 million tons (including rice). In particular, it is foreseen to yeild 769.3 million tons of wheat and 1,163.2 million tons of corn in the world. Despite decline in the forecast, the world still expects a record grain harvest.
