In March sunflower oil exports decreased by 8% down to 198.9 KMT (216.4 KMT in February). This is also by 2% less than in March 2009 when Ukraine shipped 202.9 MT of sunflower oil.

Food prices not a long-term worry
High prices of pulses, food grains, sugar and vegetables have become a politically sensitive issue over the past several months. A good winter harvest and a drop in international prices may provide some relief in the next few months. However, the big worry in several quarters is whether foods will also stabilize at a higher level as other commodities such as oil, metals, gold etc.

Ukrainian, Russian deputy premiers to discuss cooperation in agriculture
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Slauta and First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov on Apr. 6 will hold talks in Moscow to discuss the whole range of issues of cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, said a source in the Russian government.

Ukrainian agrarian confederation with reference to data of the State Statistics Committee declared that profitability of agriculture in 2009 totaled 12.9%, which corresponds to the level of 2008.

The Transport and Communication Ministry of Ukraine extended the discounts for limit lumpsum rates for handling transit cargoes in Ukraine’s seaports till December 31, 2010. The Ministry’s order #128 of March 10 made correspondingly amended the order #958 of October 15.
