Odessa Port’s throughput down 6.1%, to some 6.9m tons, Q1,10
Freight traffic through Odessa Commercial Sea Port (OCSP SE, Ukraine) in January-March 2010 reached 6.899.700 tons, a 6.1-percent drop from Q1, 2009, the stevedore provisional data said.
The numbers include 3.661.600 tons of dry cargo, 11.55% down vs Q1,09 and 3.238.100 tons of liquid cargo, a slight 0.8% gain against the same period of 2009.
According to the OCSP’s statement containers total trade in Jan.-Mar., 2010 increased by 28.8% to 70.527 TEUs.
State-run Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest seaports of the Black Sea-Azov Basin. The Port’s facilities allow the stevedore to handle annually more than 14m tons of dry cargo and the same volume of oil products. In 2009 Odessa Port’s throughput shrank by 19% as compared with 2008, to 28.007.000 tons.
