The highly anticipated March 31 Planting Intentions Report shows that all wheat acreage in the United States is expected to drop by 9 percent, but not spring wheat. «The USDA has all wheat acreage down 9 percent to 53.8 million acres,» noted Erica Olson, marketing specialist for the North Dakota Wheat Commission. «Looking specifically at spring wheat, including hard red and white wheat, the acreage is estimated at 13.9 million acres, which is actually up five percent on the year.»

As of April 1, 2010, agricultural enterprises of all varieties in Ukraine sowed spring agricultural crops throughout the areas of 1.04 mln ha, a decrease of 2.7% (29 thsd ha) compared to the indices of the beginning of April in 2009, declared the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.

During January-March of 2010, the general output of agricultural products in Ukraine increased by 5.3% compared to the same period of 2009, at the same time, agricultural enterprises increased the output by 12.6%, economies of Ukrainian population decreased by 0.7%, declared the State Statistics Committee on April 15.
