US farmers to take insurance rather than sow wheat

US farmers struggling to seed their wheat crop will likely reap an insurance check rather than sow in less-than-ideal conditions, analysts and agronomists said. Farmers with prevented planting insurance can receive up to 60 percent of their expected revenue if the rainy conditions keep them out of the fields this fall.

US harvest delays throw crop size into question

Historic harvest delays are forcing US farmers to harvest soyabeans and corn with quality problems and undesirably high moisture levels, and the ultimate impact on production is uncertain, analysts said. "We've never had a concurrent bean and corn problem like this, with late harvest and wet weather. So the trade really doesn't know how to handle it," said Charlie Sernatinger, analyst with Fortis Clearing Americas.

Sintal Agriculture raises USD 13mn through placement of shares

The agricultural holding Sintal Agriculture has raised USD 13mn (EUR 8.75mn) through placement of shares accounting for 17.2% of the charter capital. The placement price stood at USD 2.28 per depositary receipt, which corresponds to the company's capitalization of USD 75mn. The paper of Sintal will be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. New investors bought the majority of depositary receipts. As a result, aggregate share of foreign investors in the holding's capital exceeded 35%.
