IGC Cuts World 2012-13 Wheat Output View 0.7% To 676 Mln Tons
The global wheat crop is forecast at 676 MMT - down by 5 MMT from previous forecast and 19 MMT below the previous year’s record, the International Grains Council said on Thursday. The EU crop forecast is reduced sharply due to reports of worse than expected winter damage and recent dry conditions.

Improved supplies, strong demand seen this year - FAO
Global food prices measured by the FAO Food Price Index fell three points or 1.4 percent from March to April 2012 but seem to have stabilized at a relatively high level of 214 points, FAO said today.

Kernel buys Stiomi-Holding
Kernel Holding S.A. entered into a call option agreement to purchase a 100% interest in two farming companies, one which manages 79,200 ha of leasehold farmland in the Khmelnitsk region (Stiomi-Holding: grains and oilseeds, flour an bakery producer) and the other which manages 40,000 ha of leasehold farmland in the Poltava region.

Grain Ukraine estimates Ukrainian grains export in April at about 2.4 MMT, mostly corn - above 1.5 MMT, 0.6 MMT of wheat and 0.2 MMT of barley.

The general harvest of grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2012 will be significantly lower compared to the last year results, declared Anatoliy Prokopenko, Deputy Head of the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, during the round table discussion "Harvest-2012 through the prism of the condition of winter crops sowings and prospects for spring sowing works", which takes place in Dnipropetrovsk on March 16.
