Last MY (July 2011 - June 2012) Ukraine exported 21.8 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 81% compared to the previous MY.

According to data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in particular, the export volumes of maize already increased by 2.7 times - to the level of 13.86 mln tonnes, wheat - up 26.4% to 5.17 mln tonnes (including nearly 3.1 mln tonnes of milling wheat, 2.1 mln tonnes of feed wheat). At the same time, exports of barley decreased by 4.6% - to 2.58 mln tonnes.

According to the Ministry, in June Ukraine exported 1.96 mln tonnes of grains, including 1.44 mln tonnes of maize, 0.33 mln tonnes of wheat and 0.18 mln tonnes of barley.

In the current MY the export volumes of oilseeds already increased by 1.7% compared to last MY - to 2.39 mln tonnes. In particular, the exports of rapeseed decreased by 16.2% - to 1.16 mln tonnes, while the soybean index grew by 27.3% - to 1.24 mln tonnes.

As of July 2, 2012, the exports of sunflower seed totaled 230.8 thsd tonnes, while as of the specified date in 2011 - 419 thsd tonnes.

As a reminder, in 2011 Ukraine produced 56.7 mln tonnes of grains, up 44.3% compared to 2010. The domestic consumption of grains is estimated by experts at the level of 26.7 mln tonnes per year.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasted grain exports from Ukraine in the reporting MY at the level of 22-23 mln tonnes.

In 2010/2011 MY the general grain exports from Ukraine totaled nearly 12 mln tonnes, including 4.1 mln tonnes of wheat (3.5 mln tonnes of milling wheat, 0.6 mln tonnes of feed wheat), 2.7 mln tonnes of barley and 5.1 mln tonnes of maize.
