Barley production in Ukraine may fall by 30% a year
Grain Ukraine cuts its forecast of barley production in Ukraine in 2012/13 by almost 2 to 6.4 MMT due to smaller area and yields.
There is possibility further downward correction.
In 2011/12 in Ukraine was harvested about 9.1 MMT of barley.
Estimate of exports in 2011/12 is unchanged - 2.5MMT. In July-May 2011/12 Ukraine exported about 2.3MMT of barley.
The main directions of export of Ukrainian barley in this season are the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Jordan ..) - 95% of total shipments and North Africa (Morocco and Libya) - 4%.
