On October 14, the EU-Ukraine Association Committee in Trade Configuration approved  the arrangement to liberalize customs duties and import tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) that have been in force under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The new arrangements will change the terms of access to the EU market for key Ukrainian agrifood products.

The arrangement also augurs a new approach in the EU-Ukraine agritrade relations, featuring the first practical implementation of the EU “mirror clauses” doctrine in international agrifood trade, as well as introducing a tough system of safeguard measures on Ukrainian agrifood imports to the EU.

This webinar aims to discuss these questions by bringing together science and industry representatives to explore the practical implications of the new arrangement.

Discussion points:

  • how exactly will tariffs and import tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) be liberalized and for which products?
  • How do Ukrainian agri producers view the changes in the rules of the game in terms of their revenues and geography of exports?
  • To what extent will the new arrangement be shielded from political risks associated with resistance from the European farmers?
  • How is the new arrangement related to Ukraine’s alignment with EU agriculture and food legislation?

Join us for a timely and forward-looking discussion on how both sides of the border are navigating the “new normal” of EU–Ukraine agri-food trade.
