UCAB Seed Committee was established on the initiative and with the support of leading global and Ukrainian seed producers operating in the Ukrainian market.
The purpose of the Committee’s activities is to promote the development of a transparent and efficient business environment in the seed sector, exchange of information and experience between market participants, formation of a coordinated position on the current state of the industry and development of proposals for improving its regulation.
As part of its work, the Committee maintains active cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, the Institute of Plant Variety Expertise, and the State Enterprise State Center for Certification and Expertise of Agricultural Products.
Harmonization of national seed legislation with EU legislation and international standards (OECD, UPOV) to increase transparency, competitiveness and development of the seed market.
Improving the certification system, sowing qualities and soil control, digitalizing all processes (through e-Crop Production).
Strengthening control over the circulation of seeds, in particular, countering counterfeiting.
Promoting the proper protection of intellectual property rights to plant varieties.
