During New Year holiday Ukrainians throw in the trash the volume of meals equal to 30 thousand tons of Olivier (Russian Salad)
Food waste from each new year’s table in Ukraine is in average equal to 199 UAH or 18% of living wage in 2013. In general, the country lost food in equivalent to 30 thousand tons of Olivier (Russian Salad)- claims agency AgriSurvey.
Results of the research done by AgriSurvey shows that 67% of urban population in Ukraine (regardless of age and gender) decorated the new year's table with traditional for this holiday salad Olivier (Russian Salad). Ukrainians throw away food due to its spoilage in amount that in average equal to 199 UAH or 18% of living wage in 2013. The same time, monthly food waste, for example, in British family much higher but reaches only 6% of living wage in Britain.
"To compare, such volume of losses indicates that population of Ukraine throws the trash on average 4.8 kg of salad Olivier per one new year’s table, that amount in 30.1 thousand tons of Olivier in general by the country»,-commented the manager of marketing and sociological research of AgriSurvey Anna Kvit.
By A. Kvit, 39% of urban residents of Ukraine usually spoil at least 5% of food. In the meantime, 15% of the population emit more than 30% of new year's food, which is pretty high. The most economical during new year holiday are people mature and elderly, but most wasteful are young people as well as those who celebrate the new year in large companies.
Once again, according to the reports of agency AgriSurvey, due to the spoilage of food during the new year holiday Ukrainians loss up to 1 billion UAH.
