Ukraine raises grain crop forecast to 45 million tonnes
Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry has raised its 2009 grain crop forecast to 45 million tonnes from the previous outlook of 42-43 million tonnes, Farm Minister Yuri Melnyk told reporters on Wednesday. The 2008 grain harvest reached a record 53.3 million tonnes.

Foodmaker Nestle Ukraine raised sales by 17% y/y to UAH 1.42bn (USD 0.18bn) in H1, company announced. In particular, the company saw a 26% y/y growth in the coffee and beverages segment, up to UAH 441mn.

EU starts checks on Ukrainian milk producers
Inspectors from the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Consumers (DG-SANCO) arrived in Ukraine on September 7 to conduct an audit of Ukrainian milk products, according to the press service of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine.
