Crisis hasn't stopped Russian pig investments
The financial crisis only seems to have postponed pig investments in Russia. This could be concluded on this year’s edition of the annual Kombikorma exhibition for grain and feed, which took place in Moscow, Russia, 2-5 February.

28% winter rape sown areas frozen out
In Ternopil region 28% winter rape sown areas have frozen out, reported Mariya Dermanska, Chief of Agricultural Products Output Department (Ternopil Regional Agroindustrial Development Administration). As to Dermanska, weak/rare seedlings have been found at 17,000 ha. «Average winter rape seedlings density is to be 60–90 per square meter; however, density at frost-affected areas is just 20–30.

In Ukraine, agricultural production at all categories of economies, over January against January 2009, grew by 5.4%, including at agricultural enterprises - 12.7%, at population's economies - reduced by 0.3%, the State Statistics Committee reports.

WYO completes 16-ship project for Nibulon
Wadan Yards Okean Shipyard JSC in Nikolaev of Ukraine launched February 12, 2010 two river-sea going barges built under a contract for Nibulon Ltd, an agricultural enterprise. The two ships were part of the 16-barges contract signed March 6th last year. Eight other ships are scheduled to be launched soon adding by April this year to Nibulon’s 24-vessel fleet.

Share of grain crops in export up
In total volume of goods export against 2008, the share of grain crops increased from 5.5 to 9%, animal oil and vegetable oil - from 2.9 to 4.5%. At the same time, the share of fertilizers dropped from 3 to 2.2%, the State Statistics Committee reported.
