Bulgaria Boosts Wine Export to Russia
Bulgaria’s Ministry of Agriculture reported a considerable increase of wine export to Russia. In November-December 2009 over 9.2 million liters of wine were sold on this large market, according to Krassimir Koev, CEO of the Wine and Vine Chamber. The initial export forecasts were grim – Bulgaria expected a decline of 50-60 percent in wine sales in Russia, however, the actual decrease was only 30 percent. The sealed new contracts will be valid in 2010, which means that wine export is to grow further, Koev added.
