  • Brazil – $8.18 billion
  • Argentina – $7.17 billion
  • Ukraine – $5.07 billion
  • EU – $1.16 billion

Key Insights:

  • Resumption of Sea Routes: while 100% of corn exports in 2021 went through the Black Sea ports, the full-scale invasion changed the situation. In 2022-2023, the share of seaports dropped to 56-64%, and alternative routes became essential — the Danube ports and the “Solidarity Lanes”,  which together accounted for over 40% of exports. In 2024, thanks to the operation of the Ukrainian sea corridor, maritime logistics returned to its dominant role, with its share reaching 84%.
  • Improvement in Monetary Export Dynamics: after peak figures in 2021-2022 (almost $5.9 billion), corn exports decreased to $4.97 billion in 2023. However, the figure improved in 2024, indicating a gradual recovery of stable Ukrainian corn exports through the Black Sea ports of Odesa.
  • Balanced Export Geography: although the EU is the largest buyer of Ukrainian corn, Ukraine maintains a global presence, exporting to 62 countries worldwide. More than half of the product is supplied to countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Conclusion: Corn remains one of the important export items of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, forming about 20% of all agricultural exports. Maintaining the 4th position among world exporters underscores the industry’s resilience and its ability to adapt to difficult conditions. The restoration and further increase of exports directly depend on the stability of sea logistics routes and maintaining access to key sales markets.
