Dec 2009 buckwheat prices have climbed to UAH4,72–5,36 per kg (up 0.4–5.7% against Nov 2009) on 19 regions markets and simultaneously lowered to UAH4,81–5,04 per kg (down 0.2–0.6% against Nov 2009) on 2 regions markets, reported Ministry of Economics representative.

Dec 2009 vegetable oil prices have mounted to UAH7,95–10,54 per liter, up 1–19.2% against Nov 2009 on 23 regions markets and simultaneously dipped to UAH10,64 per liter, down 0.7% as of Nov 2009 on c. Kyiv markets, reported Ministry of Economics representative.

EU will allow high-quality Australian beef to be imported duty free by Easter.

Agriculture shows positive results

EBRD invests USD 1.5bn in projects in Ukraine in 2009.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said that it invested a record USD 1.5bn in projects in Ukraine in 2009. The total volume of operations under the EBRD's projects was EUR 4.8bn in 194 projects as of Dec 31, 2009 .

Ukraine: nearly 50% of winter crops sowings to be in good condition
As of January 14, winter grains sowings in Ukraine were in good condition throughout 3.94 mln ha, which totaled 46.1% from the general volumes of winter crops sowing areas. Winter grains areas with satisfactory conditions occupied 3.74 mln ha, or 43.9%, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

EU wheat hardly damaged by winter
European Union wheat plantings have come through the winter so far without major weather damage, Germany's largest grain trading house Toepfer International said on Tuesday. "There are currently very low temperatures in important wheat production regions," it said in a report. "But no large weather damage is to be expected in the EU."
