EU will allow high-quality Australian beef to be imported duty free by Easter.
The move comes only months after Australia announced it would lift a ban on beef from nations previously afflicted with mad cow disease, such as those in the EU.
By the first quarter of 2010, Australian beef is slated to be on European retail shelves duty free.
Currently, high-quality Australian beef exports are subject by the EU to a 20 per cent duty.
Australian government officials say improved export access would help producers struggling with a strong Australian dollar and showed the need to resist trade protectionism.
Australia exports annually more than AUS$136 million worth of beef to the EU.
