Ukrzaliznytsya: 262.4 mln tons of freight dispatched in 9 months of 2010
In 9 months of 2010, the volume of cargoes dispatched at the Ukrainian railway network amounted to 262.4 mln tons, a 12.7% increase year-on-year.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, loading of almost all mass cargoes but grain grew.
Coal volume, for example, grew by 7.3% to 71.7 mln tons. However, the cargo’s share in the total loading volume fell from 28.2% in 2009 to 27.3% because of the active increase in other cargoes loading volume. In 9 months of 2010, the volume of ferrous metals transported by railway grew by 8.9% to 21.5 mln tons. To compare, in 2009 Ukrzaliznytsya lost almost a quarter of this cargo.
Ore transportation increased by 22.7% to 53.6 mln tons. Last year, there was a 10% decline in transportation of this freight.
Also, there was a growth in transportation of oil bulk (+8.8% to 8.4 mln tons), solid fertilizers (+21.4% to 4.1 mln tons), construction materials (+21.9% to 33.7 mln tons), forest cargoes (+48% to 3.4 mln tons), and coke (+12.9% to 7.6 mln tons).
Transportation of grain in 9 months of 2010 reduced by 34% year-on-year to 9 mln tons. To compare, last year grain was the only cargo the loading of which increased (+26% to 19.6 mln tons).
