Ukrainian agrarians and fertilizer suppliers have united for repayment a debt
Committee on agribusiness issues SUP together with UCAB hold a round-table discussion entitled "The crisis in the fertilizer market: effective ways to overcome and prevent repetition." Agricultural producers and fertilizer suppliers, who have suffered from the failure of repaying the debts of the affiliated trading companies of the OSTCHEM group, jointly with legal experts have identified ways to solve the problem. "The amount of losses for undelivered nitrogen fertilizers is measured by billions of UAH. Neither agricultural producers nor distributors can return debts for pre-paid fertilizers. The question is: how in a legal state so many producers and distributors have been deceived? How did it happen that most of the domestic fertilizer production was concentrated in the hands of one corporation? Farmers were left without fertilizers in the midst of the season. And even now, three months after this situation, when the OSTCHEM factories have already been put into operation, neither money nor products returned to this day,” commented Petro Melnyk, Committee Chairman of SUP.
Following the results of the round table, it was decided to send an appeal letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and the Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for their personal control of this situation. In addition, the participants of the round table began a collective research of the issue in the legal frame in terms to find legal ways of solving the problem.
